Frequently Asked Questions

Staying Over?

How long should you stay in Exeter?

We love our hometown, and we just know you will too.

We think a stay of two nights is pretty perfect. A little less? You’ll have a great time (we promise), but there’s just so much to see and do in Exeter that you’ll wish you had an extra night with us.

Staying for longer? We’ll give you all the hints and tips to make Exeter props the top of your city break hitlist, time and time again.

What are the best things to do in Exeter?

We’re bang in the middle of the ancient city of Exeter. A short walk takes you onto the High Street, where a great line of shops are waiting for you to peruse, (we highly recommend Gandy Street for a mooch).

We’ve got medieval architecture on our doorstep, with the Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, both just a short stroll away.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 3pm. If you arrive early and your room isn’t quite ready, there’s plenty of space in our lovely pub to relax, have a bite to eat or a little tipple.

Arriving early and want to head out? No problem, we’ll hold on to your bags until you’re back.

Check-out is by 11am.

What time is breakfast?

Brekkie is served from 7am on weekdays, and 8am on weekends (we all deserve a little lie-in).

If your room rate doesn’t include breakfast but you can’t quite resist, fear not, walk-ins are very welcome.

Do you have any family-friendly bedrooms?

We’ve got lots of family-friendly bedrooms. We can also add cots for the littlest of guests, or fold-out beds (for the bigger little ones) to your room on request. Kids under 2 stay for free. 2-16 are £15 per night.

Can I bring my dog to stay?

Yes, we love furry four-legged friends just as much as humans. Just add your dog to your booking (up to two pups can stay with you for £20 per night), and we’ll make sure they get a VIP welcome with a doggy hamper full of tasty tail-wagging treats, a doggy bed or blanket and bowl.

Getting Here

Do you have any parking?

We don’t have our own spaces (we’re just too central for that).

But there are some good-as-gold public car parks nearby.  The closest is Harlequins Car Park, just across the road, it will set you back £13 for the day.

How do I get to you via public transport?

Our closet train station is Exeter Central. Just a 6-minute walk down Paul Street and you’ll find us at the bottom of the hill.

Exeter St David’s train station is also very close. Just a quick 5-minute taxi ride (or a 13-minute walk down St David’s Hill to Iron Bridge) will get you here.

Booking Bits

Can I cancel my booking?

We understand that plans sometimes change, so we try to make our booking policies super flexible. You can cancel or modify your booking up to 12pm the day before your arrival. If you cancel outside of this time or don’t show up, we’re sorry, but we’ll have to charge you for the first night of your stay. The only rate that’s not flexible is the Early Bird, this one’s non-refundable and non-amendable.

Can I make changes to my booking?

You can make changes to your booking up to 12pm the day before your arrival. This includes changes to your package, room and extras (as long as it’s available). The only rate that’s not flexible is the Early Bird, this one’s non-amendable.

Can I get a copy of my invoice?

Of course. When booking online, you have the option to send an invoice in step 2. Missed this step? Not to worry, just ask at Reception and the team will email you a copy. Checked out already? Pop us an email and we’ll send one right over.
